You and the love of your life have found each other and an exciting time in your life is beginning to unfold, a time when you proclaim your love and devotion for one another in the company of those most important to you.

As editor, I would like to welcome you to Eagle Newspapers’ new and improved Wedding Planner, which will run this month and in July of this year. Throughout my career here at Eagle, I have been responsible for many of our special sections, but none have grabbed my imagination or enthusiasm the way our wedding supplements have. When I was married almost 11 years ago, I had the wedding of my dreams, but it took a lot of behind-the-scenes work and I had to pay attention to an unbelievable amount of little details.

The day of your wedding is one of the most important and special of your life, and the purpose of this guide is to help you prioritize your preparations for the big day. From the minister to the music, the dress to the first dance, there is a lot of ground to cover, and the decisions that need to be made can sometimes be overwhelming.

On page 7 of this booklet is a master checklist to follow when trying to take care of the many details involved in planning a wedding. Pivotal steps will be discussed in more detail on the following pages, and a form to guide you in announcing both your engagement and wedding are on pages 8 and 14 respectively.

Use this guide as a reference to help the planning process go smoothly, but remember to have fun as you are preparing to say “I do.” It’s important to enlist the help of friends and/or family in the process. In fact, having the help of those closest to you can make this exciting time even more special.
