SYRACUSE Impact Martial Arts & Fitness recently donated $3,000 to Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital.
For several years, Impact’s Manlius location (formerly LaVallee’s) has raised funds to supply meals to families with children admitted at the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. Sensei Jeff Groesbeck, owner of Impact Martial Arts & Fitness in Manlius, lost a niece who spent time at Golisano Children’s Hospital prior to her passing.
“I felt this was a way of giving back and honoring my niece’s memory. Providing meals for families with children hospitalized at Golisano was a way I thought we could help”, Groesbeck said. “Having a child hospitalized is stressful enough. We wanted to contribute in any way we could to make it easier on families.”
This year, all Impact Martial Arts & Fitness locations joined forces in their fundraising efforts and along with contributions from their student body, were able to present the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital with a check in the amount of $3,000.
Golisano Children’s Hospital offers a full spectrum of primary and specialized medical care for pediatric patients. Their dedicated pediatric staff care for patients, in an inpatient setting, that consists of General Pediatrics, Pediatric Surgical Unit, hematology/oncology, the only pediatric intensive care unit in a 17-county referral area, and the only dedicated pediatric Emergency Department between Rochester and Vermont.
The Impact Martial Arts & Fitness owners and instructors are grateful for the unwavering support of their students in helping them have a positive impact on the CNY community.
