At 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 — the first night of Chanukah — Chabad Lubavitch of CNY will hold a special program at the Downtown Menorah Lighting in Hanover Square. Saturday night has traditionally been the night when members of the community have joined in lighting Downtown. There will be music, Chanukah gelt and dreydels for all those attending.
On the second night, Sunday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m., there will be a menorah lighting on the Syracuse University campus in front of Hendricks Chapel. With music, Chanukah gelt, hot cider, donuts and dreydels for all. There will also be an Olive Oil Making workshop/demonstration at the DeWitt Wegmans on Genesee Street from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day. Olive Oil plays an integral role in the holiday since it was established over the miracle of the oil.
On Monday, Dec. 10, at 5 p.m. there will be a public Chanukah menorah lighting at the DeWitt Menorah on the Corner of East Genesee Street and Erie Boulevard. The town supervisor and other elected officials will be attending. Chanukah gelt and dreydels for all.
On Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 5 p.m. there will be a special menorah lighting at Hancock International Airport in the main lobby. An electric menorah is on display at the airport throughout the holiday. The commissioner of aviation will participate in this event with other airport personnel. Chanukah gelt and dreydels for all.
On Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 6 p.m. there will be a public lighting at the Village Menorah on the corner of Fayette and East Seneca streets in Manlius.
