LETTERS: In support of Tom Miller

To the editor:

I write to you in support of Tom Miller for Onondaga County Court Judge.

As a 20-year veteran of local law enforcement, I have had the privilege to work with Tom Miller both in his capacity as Village of Fayetteville Judge and also as a practicing attorney in the Syracuse area for many years. I also have had the honor of getting to know the man, the father and the dedicated professional that has focused his life in pursuit of justice.

I have watched Tom take on the tough cases, truly study the totality of the circumstances, use tremendous patience, judgment and tact. He balances the letter of the law and the spirit of the law, ensuring victims’ rights, while not afraid to demonstrate compassion when the situation demands. But most of all the quality I admire most is his integrity to always “do the right thing.”

During my tenure in local law enforcement I once asked a prosecutor which attorney in the Syracuse area he admired most. His answer was quick. He said, “Tom Miller.” He said it was because Tom was an intelligent, approachable and extremely capable attorney, that he understood most things that many others miss, and is well-respected by all sides of the court. I never forgot that, and I have had the pleasure to watch that in person on many occasions.

Knowing the professional, the man and the father, I urge you to vote Tom Miller for Onondaga County Court Judge.

Sincerest regards,

Jason M. Cassalia, Manlius Police Captain (Retired)
