Long into the night they went, the CBA/J-D and Skaneateles ice hockey teams taking more than five periods to settle Tuesday night's epochal Section III Division II semifinal at Allyn Arena. Only when Ryan Durkin scored early in the third OT did the thing get settled - and the top-seeded Lakers were out, beaten by the Brothers 4-3 as Skaneateles remains without a sectional title since 2008.

Organizers hope to top $10,000 for Baldwin Foundation

They didn’t get the on-ice result they were hoping for but organizers of the Thursday’s second annual Pink the Rink fundraiser for breast cancer research were all smiles anyway. The event took place at the Division I hockey game between host Fayetteville-Manlius and Cicero-North Syracuse. The No. 1 state ranked Northstars eked out a 4-2 win over the Hornets.

Skaneateles scores twice in third period, stays in first place

In order to hang on to its Division II lead, the Skaneateles ice hockey team had to cool off the league's hottest entry - and did so. The Lakers scored a pair of third period goals to topple CBA-Jamesville-Dewitt, 3-1, Tuesday night at Onondaga Nation Arena in Nedrow.

Cheyenne Hall made sure that the Fayetteville-Manlius girls soccer team's Section III Class AA title quest lasts at least one more round. Hall scored twice and assisted on another goal to power the Hornets past Christian Brothers Academy, 3-1, in Thursday night's AA quarterfinal.

Though it took going beyond regulation, the Fayetteville-Manlius boys soccer team still finds itself in the chase for a Section III Class AA title. Lucas Avarell buried an overtime penalty kick to give the Hornets a 3-2 win over host Nottingham in Wednesday night's Class AA quarterfinal.
